Warwick Davis’ Kids Tell Fans Actor Is Taking Time Away from Social Media After Wife’s Death

Warwick Davis is taking some time offline following the death of his wife, Samantha Davis.

“I’m done here, Sgning off. 💔,” Warwick, 54, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday, April 21, which was followed up a little over an hour later with a post from his children that read, “Thank you everyone for looking out for our Dad, he is taking some time away from social media.”

“He apologises if his last message caused anyone concern. We appreciate all of your love and support, Annabelle and Harrison x,” their post concluded.

According to a statement shared with the BBC on April 17, Samantha died on March 24 at age 53.

“Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family,” the Harry Potter actor told the outlet. “I miss her hugs.”

In their statement to the BBC, Annabelle and Harrison said Samantha’s “love and happiness carried us through our whole lives.”

“Mum is our best friend and we’re honoured to have received a love like hers,” the siblings added.

Warwick described his late wife of over 30 years, whom he met while working on 1988’s Willow and married in 1991, as “a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life.”

“She had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes,” he added.

Warwick is known for his starring roles in the Harry Potter saga as Professor Flitwick and goblin Griphook. He has also played several characters across the Star Wars film franchise, and the title role of Willow and its 2022 sequel series.

Aside from Willow, Samantha also appeared in screen projects, from children’s TV series Through the Dragon’s Eye to 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

In 2022, Warwick opened up to PEOPLE about the heartbreaking loss of their firstborn son soon after his birth due to complications from the dwarfism genes inherited from both of his parents.

“I think it brings you closer together,” the British character actor said at the time, crediting Samantha as being their source of strength. “But it’s an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”

“Eventually, over time, you’re able to better understand why it happened and can come to terms with it a bit more. But you never get over it,” he added.
