HARRISBURG WITH THE RESULTS AND ALSO SOME REACTION IN THERE. JAKE. YEAH, MATT AND CAITLIN. SIX DEMOCRATS WERE ON THE BALLOT SEEKING THE PARTY’S NOMINATION. FORMER NEWS ANCHOR JANELLE STELSON WON THE NOMINATION WITH 44% OF THE VOTES, NEARLY DOUBLING HER CLOSEST COMPETITOR. SHE WILL NOW CHALLENGE SIX TIME REPUBLICAN INCUMBENT SCOTT PERRY IN NOVEMBER. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CALLING HIM CONGRESSMAN CHAOS BECAUSE HE’S NOT GETTING ANYTHING DONE FOR US IN CONGRESS. HE VOTES TIME AND TIME AGAIN, NOT ONLY AGAINST THE MIDDLE CLASS, BUT OUR SENIORS AND THEIR HEALTH BENEFITS. YOU KNOW, HE’S TAKEN ALL OF THESE VOTES, EVEN AGAINST HIS OWN MILITARY VETERAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS. AND SCOTT PERRY’S CAMPAIGN DID RESPOND TO STILLSON’S VICTORY, SAYING IN PART, MY OPPONENT SEEKS TO CONTINUE THE BURDEN OF THE DESTRUCTIVE BIDEN AGENDA ON THE PEOPLE OF THE 10TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT, WHILE REFUSING TO EVEN MOVE TO THE DISTRICT AMONGST HER OTHER RADICAL LEFTIST IDEOLOGIES, STILLSON HAS INDICATED SHE WOULD MOVE TO THE DISTRICT IF SHE WON. NOW, PERRY RAN UNOPPOSED ON THE REPUBLICAN SIDE, AND MEANWHILE STILLSON THANKED HER SUPPORTERS FOLLOWING HER 20 POINT VICTORY OVER MIKE O’BRIEN AND FOUR OTHER CHALLENGERS. JANELLE STELSON SAYS SHE WILL FIGHT TO TO PROTECT REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS AND EVEN CROSSED THE AISLE TO GET THINGS DONE. REPORTING LIVE IN HARRISBURG, JAKE REYES WGAL NEWS EIGHT. THANKS JAKE AND MIKE O’BRIEN WAS STILLSON’S CLOSEST CHALLENGER FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. HE FINISHED SECOND. WE WERE THERE WITH O’BRIEN AND HIS SUPPORTERS DURING A PRIMARY EVENT IN CAMP HILL, CUMBERLAND COUNTY, LAST NIGHT. THE FORMER TOP GUN PILOT SAYS THAT HE WAS PROUD OF THE WORK THAT HIS CAMPAIGN STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAD DONE. WE’RE HERE TONIGHT BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IN A BETTER COUNTRY WITH A BRIGHTER FUTURE AND BELIEVE IN REWRITING THE NARRATIVE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AMERICA. AND DESPITE THIS OUTCOME, I URGE YOU TO KEEP ON BELIEVING IN THAT BECAUSE THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER. O’BRIEN WENT ON TO SAY THAT DEMOCRATS NEED TO UNIFY IN NOVEMBER AGAINST REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN SCOTT PERRY, SAYING THAT IT IS A SEAT THAT THEY CAN WIN THE RACE FOR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN NOVEMBER WILL HAVE A SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY FEEL TO IT. FAMILIAR NAMES. LET’S GO TO REGINA. SHE’S CONTINUING OUR COMMITMENT. 2024 COVERAGE WITH A LOOK AT THIS RACE. MATT AND CAITLIN, THE TWO CANDIDATES WHO WILL SQUARE OFF TO BE THE STATE’S TOP COP. BOTH HAVE YORK COUNTY CONNECTIONS. OUT OF THE FIVE CANDIDATES ON THE BALLOT, EUGENE DEPASQUALE WON THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION BY RECEIVING 36% OF THE VOTE. AND DAVE SUNDAY WON THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION EASILY BEATING HIS OPPONENT, CRAIG WILLIAMS. DEPASQUALE IS A FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE FROM YORK WHO WON TWO TERMS AS STATE AUDITOR GENERAL. HE NOW LIVES IN HIS NATIVE PITTSBURGH AREA, AND SUNDAY IS A CURRENT YORK COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY. MY RECORD OF CHILD PROTECTION ACROSS THE STATE, UH, MAKING OUR SCHOOLS SAFER, BEING TOUGH AND FAIR ON BOTH A REPUBLICAN AND A DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR. I THINK THAT’S SOMETHING THAT CLEARLY CUT THROUGH. I’M SO HAPPY TO KNOW THAT PEOPLE ALL ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA EMBRACE AND BELIEVE THAT ACCOUNTABILITY AND REDEMPTION IS WHAT WE NEED. WE HAVE TO HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE. YOU HAVE TO HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY. BUT ON THE OTHER END OF IT, WE HAVE TO EMBRACE REDEMPTION AS A SOCIETY AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SERVES AS THE COMMONWEALTH’S TOP PROSECUTOR. DIRECT STATEWIDE GRAND JURIES, DEFENSE STATE LAWS AND REPRESENTS PENNSYLVANIA. IF THE STATE IS PROSECUTED FEDERALLY. CAITLIN. THANK YOU. IT’S 608. AND TURNING TO MORE STATEWIDE RACES NOW IN THE RACE FOR AUDITOR GENERAL, A STATE REPRESENTATIVE FROM PHILADELPHIA, MALCOLM KENYATTA, SECURED 64% OF THAT VOTE, BEATING MARK PINSLEY. HE WILL NOW FACE INCUMBENT TIM DEFOOR, WHO WAS THE LONE REPUBLICAN RUNNING FOR THAT NOMINATION IN THE RACE FOR STATE TREASURER. INCUMBENT REPUBLICAN STACEY GARRITY. SHE ALSO RAN UNOPPOSED FOR HER PARTY’S PRIMARY, BUT THERE WERE TWO DEMOCRATS VYING FOR HER JOB. IN THE END, IT WAS ERIN MCCLELLAN WINNING 54% OF THE VOTE TO OVERCOME RYAN BIZZARRO, WHO THE STATE DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSED. ANOTHER IMPORTANT RACE WAS FOR THE 100TH HOUSE DISTRICT, WHICH COVERS PARTS OF LANCASTER COUNTY. MINORITY LEADER BRYAN CUTLER FACED OFF AGAINST POLITICAL NEWCOMER DAVE NISSLEY. IT WAS A TIGHT, TIGHT RACE, BUT CUTLER CAME OUT ON TOP, SECURING 54% OF THAT VOTE AND IN THE RACE FOR THE US SENATE, DEMOCRATIC INCUMBENT BOB CASEY, TROOPER JACQUES AND REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER DAVE MCCORMICK RAN UNOPPOSED IN THE PRIMARY, AND THAT SETS UP A NOVEMBER RACE THAT COULD DECIDE CONTROL IN THE SENATE. IN WASHINGTON. CASEY IS SEEKING A FOURTH TUM, WHILE MCCORMICK, A FORMER HEDGE FUND CEO, NARROWLY LOST TO DOCTOR MEHMET OZ IN THE 2022 GOP PRIMARY. NO SURPRISES IN THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY HERE IN PENNSYLVANIA, PRESIDENT BIDEN WON THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SECURED THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION. NOW, PENNSYLVANIA HAS A CLOSED PRIMARY, MEANING THAT ONLY REGISTERED REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS CAN VOTE IN THEIR PARTY’S PRIMARY. SO STAY TUNED FOR NEWS EIGHT TODAY AT 630.
