Pacers vs. Knicks pick against the spread, over/under for Game 7

Update: Anunoby and Hart are both in and both will start for the Knicks, who are 3-point favorites according to the latest line. The total comes in at 207.5. I still like New York as the ATS pick and the over on the total.

Update: According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks are likely to have both Anunoby and Hart in Game 7. Both are on track to play and will likely be officially considered game-time decisions, with the pregame warmup being the final determination for their status. The line has moved up to Knicks -4 but I’ll wait for official word on both guys before making updated picks.

The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks will conclude their second-round series in the 2024 NBA Playoffs Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden with Game 7. The home team has won every game in this series, so there’s optimism for New York fans ahead of this decisive contest. These franchises played two Game 7s against each other in the 1990s, with New York winning in the 1994 conference finals while Indiana triumphed in the 1995 conference semifinals.

Indiana is clean on the day-to-day injury front. There’s optimism the Knicks will get OG Anunoby back after he suffered a hamstring injury in Game 2 of this series. He’s officially being listed as questionable. Josh Hart, who played through an abdominal strain for most of Game 6, is also considered questionable.

The Knicks are 3.5-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook with the total sitting at 208.5. New York is -162 on the moneyline while Indiana is +136.

Pacers vs. Knicks, 3:30 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Knicks -3.5

Given how well the Pacers can shoot the triple, there’s the possibility this turns into what the Mavericks did to the Suns in 2022. I don’t envision that happening, especially since I do believe Anunoby and Hart will play in some capacity. The Knicks have fought admirably despite losing a significant chunk of their rotation, led by star guard Jalen Brunson.

Games 1 and 2 in New York were close but Game 5 was a blowout win for the home team. The Pacers are 50-42-3 ATS this season while the Knicks are right behind them at 49-42-3 ATS. New York is 20-16 ATS as a home favorite while Indiana is 15-13-1 ATS as a road underdog. In a game that’s expected to be tight, Anunoby coming back makes a difference, even if he’s on a minutes limit. I think the trend of the home side winning each game continues Sunday with the Knicks taking Game 7 and moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Over/Under: Over 208.5

Four of the six games in this series have gone over this total, which makes sense as four of the six games have been relatively close. I don’t think we see a blowout here unless one team gets really hot from behind the arc and even in that scenario, there won’t be any benching of key players as this is a decisive contest. Look for both teams to play their top guys heavy minutes in this finale, which should lead to a closely contested game and the over hitting.
