Krispy Kreme, the beloved national doughnut chain, has announced that it has launched a unique collaboration with the hit television show, “Friends.”

According to Parade, the collaboration between the two entities is only available in the United Kingdom and was officially unveiled on Monday, June 17. An Instagram post by Snackolator revealed some of the initial designs of the sweet treats.

As the photo reveals, a few designs pay direct tribute to “Friends” and some iconic scenes.

One titled “FRIENDS” will honor the opening title sequence of the show by showcasing a white chocolate depiction of the Washington Square Park fountain. A glazed doughnut Krispy Kreme topped with chocolate icing and sprinkles will hold the adorned white chocolate slice in its middle.

The Trifle Friends doughnut will be presented as a sweet treat with strawberries and custard, along with chocolate and green sprinkles. The How You Doin’? doughnut will have extra frosting flavoring mango and passionfruit on top of a purple-dipped doughnut. The last flavor, the We Were On a Coffee Break doughnut, will have a latte-flavored icing, more chocolate swirls, and a white chocolate representation of the Central Perk logo in the middle as a unique tribute to Central Perk, the beloved fictional coffee shop at the heart of the show.

Krispy Kreme x ‘Friends’: What Prompted This?

The Krispy Kreme & “Friends” collaboration has prompted a lot of outrage from longtime fans of the show, which ended in 2004. The source of their outrage, according to the Daily Mail, is the fact that the doughnuts are only available in the United Kingdom, even though the show was famously based in New York City.

“Friends was a huge US show (I know it is big internationally as well, but come on), yet this is a UK thing, wtf,” wrote one fan.

“I love getting to see all of these cool flavors and snacks, but it’s also showing me how much we miss out on,” wrote another.

What’s more, some UK fans who already tried the doughnuts reported that the flavors were decidedly underwhelming.

“I love the names, I love the box, and I love the idea… But definitely not the most exciting flavors ever,” wrote one fan on the Snackolator post.

There were, however, some positive remarks about the collaboration. “I love that the trifle flavor. The donuts’ sprinkles look like ‘beef sautéed with peas and onions,’” the fan wrote.

Krispy Kreme: Other US Offerings

While American fans won’t be able to sample the Krispy Kreme & “Friends” collaboration — at least, not unless they travel to the UK — they will be able to enjoy some other promotions at participating locations.

In an official press release, the company revealed that it will be celebrating the start of summer with Hot Light Happy Hours and the Hot Light-est Day of the Year.

From Monday through Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., the doughnut giant will have its evening Hot Light hours, when the Original Glazed dozens are half-price. On Thursday, June 20, the Hot Light-est Day of the Year, everyone may toast to the formal start of summer by purchasing any dozen at regular price and sharing $1 Original Glazed dozens.

A maximum of two dozen per customer may be used in-store during Krispy Kreme’s Hot Light Happy Hours and the Hot Light-est Day of the Year promotions, and there is a limit of one when placing an online purchase for pickup or delivery through the retailer’s app and website.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate summer’s official start than some sweet deals on our iconic Original Glazed dozens,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, in a statement issued with the press release.
