Mario & Luigi: Brothership Announced, Coming November 7

The Mario & Luigi RPG series is coming back after a dormant nine years. Mario & Luigi: Brothership was announced during the summer Nintendo Direct presentation, and it already has a release date of November 7, 2024.

The trailer showed the familiar Mario & Luigi art style, done up with the added power of the Switch, including full 3D models. The two got into some cartoon hijinks, battled against enemies with their signature double attacks, and set sail. The announcement called this a “seafaring” adventure that takes place across multiple islands.

The Mario & Luigi series started on Game Boy Advance with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and included several well-liked entries. The most recent one, Paper Jam, was a crossover of sorts with the other series of Mario RPGs, Paper Mario. This has been a big year for Mario RPGs already–a remake of the original Super Mario RPG released in November, and a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door released recently. Now with the return of Mario & Luigi, we’ve seen every major branch of Mario RPGs represented very recently.
